Limerick Challenge Week 36: Fairytale

It is the Labor Day weekend, yay! I have plans of spending some quality time with my son, we have both been so busy over the last couple of weeks and of course getting some writing done. What have you lovely people planned for the long weekend?

Well, long weekend or not, we do not want to miss playing the limerick challenge, do we? If you have not already done so, you can click here to view all the limerick submissions for the last week.

Now, let’s take a look at the Top 5 limericks from Week 35 challenge.

And the limerick superstar of this week………….*drumrolls please* Β Nicola of Sometimes Stellar Storyteller for the below limerick!

Pensive she sat, raw and stricken,

Determined to never forgive them.

From beneath grief’s shroud,

She regrouped and vowed,

That her trust must be earned and not given.

Congratulations Nicola – the Limerick Superstar of the week!

We had a good dose of fantasy and fairy tales the last week thanks to the awesome limericks from Frank of Poetry, Short Prose and Walking and Saira of 242 RT.

Alistair of Al the Author and Helene of Mother Willow gave us eloquent limericks for the trust prompt.

Now that the Top 5 limericks have been announced, let us move on to the Week 36 Challenge.

The prompt this week is β€˜Fairytale’. Who does not love a good fairytale, right? So here’s the thing, this week, base your limerick on a fairytale. You can choose any fairytale that already exists or one that you wrote yourself!

I can’t wait to read your limericks for this prompt!

For those who are new to the challenge, here are the rules:

  1. Each week, a prompt theme will be provided and participants are to use this prompt as a base for their limericks.
  2. This challenge will run fromΒ Friday to Friday, and you may link up your Limerick anytime during these specific days.
  3. All Limericks for Week 36 Challenge are due in latest byΒ 5PM EST on Friday, September 9, 2016.
  4. After the deadline, the link-up button will not accept any more submissions.
  5. Please tag your Limerick with Limerick Poetry Challenge so that others interested can check out your Limerick.
  6. Please remember to pingback to this post on your Limerick Post and also to link it up.
  7. A small donation is made to the local charity in the name of the Winners who receives the β€˜Limerick Superstar’ badge.
  8. Receiving this badge means that not only are you a Limerick Superstar, you helped feed one hungry person with your limerick! The winners can choose to display the badge on their blogs!
  9. If you are interested in participating in this challenge, please follow this blog site to receive instant email notifications of the post with the Word prompts for each week.

Finally, here is my take on the prompt:

Once upon a time there was a belle

with stepsisters β€˜Stasia and Drizella

to serving them she was committed

although they were evil and wicked

Thus begins the tale of Cinderella!
