Limerick Challenge Week 43: Celebrations
I shall begin this post by apologizing for the delay in posting, but I must say that I could not post because I was busy having fun yesterday, after all, it was my birthday and I decided to take a break from blogging and writing to spend time with my son and family.
Needless to say, I had a wonderful time! Check out the very special cake my sister designed for me, according to her the three pictures in the cake summarizes my life! π
Coming back to the limericks, I must say that I love love loved the very different takes I got to read from last weekβs challenge. Very cleverly done!
If you have not already done so, you can click here to view all the limerick submissions for the last week.
Now, letβs take a look at the Top 5 limericks from Week 42 challenge.
The limerick superstar of this weekβ¦β¦β¦β¦.*drumrolls please* Jay of Running in my Head!
An Old-Fashioned Diet
Said Leo to Luther: βIβve a Diet;
I insist: you really must try it!β
When to Worms Luther went,
his patience was spent,
for it wasnβtΒ thatΒ kind of a diet.
Congratulations, JayΒ β the Limerick Superstar of the week!
The homonym βDraftβ used by Nicola of Sometimes Stellar Storyteller was absolutely stellar as was the heartwarming limerick by Helene of Mother Willow.
There were some really clever homonyms used by Frank of Poetry, Short Prose and Walking and Alistair of Al the Author.
Now that the Top 5 limericks have been announced, let us move on to the Week 43 Challenge.
The prompt for this week is βCelebrationsβ. This week pick a celebration or a festival of your choice and write a limerick about it.
I am excited about this weekβs challenge and look forward to reading your limericks for this prompt!
For those who are new to the challenge, here are the rules:
- Each week, a prompt theme will be provided and participants are to use this prompt as a base for their limericks.
- This challenge will run fromΒ Saturday to Friday, and you may link up your Limerick anytime during these specific days.
- All Limericks for Week 43 Challenge are due in latest byΒ 5PM EST on Saturday, October 29, 2016.
- After the deadline, the link-up button will not accept any more submissions.
- Please tag your Limerick with Limerick Poetry Challenge so that others interested can check out your Limerick.
- Please remember to pingback to this post on your Limerick Post and also to link it up using the InLinkz (Blue Froggy) button.
- For Photo Prompts, remember to use the photo in your post and to attribute the source.
- A small donation is made to the local charity in the name of the Winners who receives the βLimerick Superstarβ badge.
- Receiving this badge means that not only are you a Limerick Superstar, you helped feed one hungry person with your limerick! The winners can choose to display the badge on their blogs!
- If you are interested in participating in this challenge, please follow this blog site to receive instant email notifications of the post with the Word prompts for each week.
Β Finally, here is my take on the prompt:
The birthday cake was blue
It had candles too
All 24 of them bright
But my son cried out βThatβs not right!β
βThere must be more candles anew!β

Dear Rashmi,
I was late, I was working on the limerick, there were so many options, I kept changing, then took a break and when I woke up the deadline had passed. So on Sunday I published one and I knew I couldn’t use the blue froggie’s help, so just posted it on my blog. The entries were remarkable, I read some of them. Thank you. π
MindandLifeMatters
Hi Ranu, yea the blue froggy stops accepting links after 6pm on Fridays (except this week where I am keeping it open till Saturday given that I posted the challenge late) which is why you were unable to link it up.
Not a problem, you can always drop a link into the comments if you missed the deadline to link it up. That way I will know that I have to check out your blog too. π

For Rashmi's birthday treat,
Her sister made something to eat
It looked mighty fine
The artwork divine
And the taste just couldn't be beat!

Hey, what a wonderful thing you have going on here. Would love to join in. Belated happy birthday and your sis got a lovely cake…thank god, you didn’t post pics of what lies under all that white goodness… i am on a strict diet right now! π Love the limerick you wrote; this is exactly why i don’t put any candles on my cake π
MindandLifeMatters
Hey, thank you! Glad you enjoyed the post and found the challenge interesting.
Finally, I let only 3 candles stay on my cake, my son wanted more of course π
I look forward to reading your limerick this weekend. π
